DOMINIQUE NICOLE HURD
April 7, 1979 - December 14, 1998
On December 14, 1998, 19-year old Dominique "Nicky" Hurd, a student at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), died tragically and unexpectedly. A graduate of Eastern Hills High School at Fort Worth, Nicky Hurd's time on earth ended at such a young age. Nicky's life fell short of her dreams and values of conquering college and leading an impactful, productive adult life.
In honor of the Hurd, Perry, and Williams families and in remembrance of Nicky's spirit and boundless enthusiasm for life, the UAPB/AM&N Alumni Association - Dallas Fort Worth Metropex Chapter established a scholarship in Dominique's name.
Her scholarship is awarded yearly to deserving Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex high school graduates and returning university students. The awards are based on financial need, academic performance and personal character without regard to gender, religious preference, cultural heritage or ethnic background. Scholarship amounts are paid directly to the University in the name of the recipient.
The Dominique Hurd Memorial Scholarship keeps her dream alive
through recipients of her scholarship.
The memories of this UAPB cheerleader will carry on where she left off
and continue to instill the values Nicky held so high.
To raise funds toward the goal of endowing that scholarship, DFWMAC is proud to announce the Fifteenth Annual Dominique Hurd Memorial
Scholarship - A Golf & Walk Fundraiser.
Proceeds from the golf tournament, the walk-a-thon, and the sponsorships
of the events will go towards the funding of this scholarship.
Nicky’s family and friends thank you for supporting this scholarship and the memory of this Most Spirited Cheerleader.
