About Jessie:

Sgt. Jessie Davila was born on July 15, 1975, in Raymondville, Texas. In 1982, Jessie's family moved to Greensburg, Kansas, where he graduated from high school and joined the United States Marine Corps. He served on active duty in the Marines from 1995 until 1999 when he returned to Kansas.

Jessie wanted to continue serving his country so he joined the Kansas Army National Guard. In November 2005, Jessie deployed with the National Guard to Iraq. On February 20, 2006, Jessie was killed while on mission in Baghdad, Iraq. He is survived by his daughter, Sydney Davila, and several family members.

About the Scholarship

Jessie's death left a huge void in the lives of everyone who knew him. However, his sacrifice also inspired many of the people who served with him to continue to serve others. One of those people is Javier Centonzio, who promised that he would honor Jessie by pursuing his law degree and using that degree to help others.

While still a student at Stetson University College of Law, Javier established the Sgt. Jessie Davila Memorial Scholarship Fund to create a scholarship for veterans who want to pursue a law degree but have used all of their education benefits pursuing an undergraduate degree. This scholarship will preserve a fallen hero's legacy by helping other veterans achieve their goals. ALL of the proceeds from this golf tournament will go toward funding the Sgt. Jessie Davila Memorial Scholarship.

Help us ensure that Jessie's legacy endures by supporting this great event!
