Old South Country Club
Set amidst the picturesque, rolling hills of Anne Arundel County, this 1990, Lindsay Ervin designed course is an idyllic getaway for golfers of all abilities. Conveniently located in Lothian, Maryland, under 30 minutes from the Washington, D.C. and Annapolis metro areas, Old South Country Club provides golfers the superior comforts expected from a high caliber private facility with bucolic tranquility you just can't get in the city.
With five sets of tees, ranging from 6,779 yards to 4,476 yards, players of all skill levels are able to enjoy an enduring relationship with the course. Thanks to the hard work of Head Superintendent, Marlin Ewing, the bent grass tees, fairways, and greens remain in superb playing condition year round, welcoming members and guests alike to relish the exceptional Old South experience.
While the elevation changes throughout the course promise breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, it is the signature par 4 fourth hole that will leave an unforgettable impression. Playing 342 yards from the back tees, this unforgiving hole requires an accurate tee shot to a tight fairway straight ahead. The second shot plays downhill to an expansive island green. But, don’t be fooled; the ample green features a formidable ridge that can cause trouble if you find yourself on the wrong side of the flag.
The compelling nature of the course, paired with Old South’s sterling reputation for excellence, have made it the obvious choice for a number of local, state, and professional events. Old South was honored to host the 2012 Maryland Open, as well as the 2007, 2008, and 2009 qualifying events for the Nationwide Tour’s Melwood Prince George’s County Open.
